[scanners] Nite Owl versus the Bat Man - scanners: At the risk of sounding pretentious, it sounds to me almost like an adaptation of a Pynchon novel in the sense that there may be some sort of underlying plot, or conspiracy, which drives the action, but the substance and the experience is defined by being immersed in all these messy, paranoid, chaotic interactions (including those of the viewer) in a hyper-realized and all-too comic world. Could you look at Watchmen, then, as a successful version of what Richard Kelly may have thought he was doing on Southland Tales?
