 [Bohemian Travels] Southern Europe - Spain, Greece, Portugal, France: I am used to wicked hot sun and wild ruggedness, so this exquisite, delicate snow is still a novelty for me.   I have to curb my childish urge and instinct to eat it because it excites me so much!  After warming up, I decided to build my first snowman ever, with one of our travelling companions, a little four year old.  Had my camera battery not frozen, I would have taken a photo.  Necessities over, including the inevitable snow ball fight that followed, I decided to don my skiis again.   Accepting that I was about to attempt something at 36 years of age, which was a good 30 years overdue in comparison to the people around me, I practiced moving around on my duck feet at the bottom of the slope.  I tried to learn to skate on the skiis and pull or push myself along with the poles.  It was fun and and once gliding, a smooth sensation. It took half an hour to walk a quarter way up the main slope, ( to avoid catching the lift) and  I managed to slide down sideways, but it was scary so I spent the rest of the afternoon on the straight stretch, just getting used to the feel of the whole thing.    Having completed our first day of skiing we warmed ourselves with hot chocolates, chocolate crepes and gluhwein.
